Stop doing this now
Most data is lost after the failure, not during it. Every extra attempt to make a failing device work draws current through damaged circuits and can reduce what is still reachable.
- Do not keep switching it on to check
- Do not run a restore or reset
- Do not erase the device
- Do not leave it charging overnight
- Do not let anyone attempt a repair before the data is discussed
If liquid was involved, keep the device powered off and bring it in. See water damage repair for what to do in the first hours.
Recovery is not repair
Returning a device to daily use and reaching the data inside it are two different goals, and they can lead to different decisions during the work. Tell us which one matters before anything begins.
Sometimes both are possible. Sometimes we can reach the files without the device ever working normally again, and when the photos matter more than the phone, that is the right outcome. Occasionally a repair that would restore daily use would also risk the data, and you should be the one to decide.
We ask the question first because the answer changes the diagnostic path.
What we assess
An assessment establishes whether the storage and the circuits it depends on survived. That is a question about the board, not about software, so the work is handled as component-level repair.
- Power and startup behaviour. Whether the board can be brought to a state where storage is addressable at all.
- Corrosion paths. After liquid exposure, whether the damage runs through the circuits the storage depends on.
- Physical damage. Cracked boards and lifted pads change what is possible, sometimes permanently.
- Previous attempts. Earlier repair work, especially on the board, can remove options that existed before.
The initial diagnostic is free. You are told what we find and what it would cost before any chargeable work starts.
When data cannot be reached
We would rather say this clearly than take money for an attempt with no realistic outcome.
- Storage that is itself physically destroyed
- Widespread corrosion across the circuits storage depends on
- Boards cracked through their internal layers
- Devices already erased or restored after the fault
- Encrypted devices where the passcode is genuinely unknown
Modern Apple devices encrypt their storage. Without the passcode, reaching the hardware is not the same as reaching the data, and no assessment changes that.
Price and expectations
Recovery work is quoted from what the assessment finds, because the effort depends on the fault rather than the device. The published figure is a starting guide for recovery work, not a fixed total.
Confirmed after assessment
Have somewhere ready to receive the files, such as a laptop or an external drive. The 30-day written warranty covers repair work listed on your invoice, subject to the warranty terms and exclusions; a recovery outcome itself is not warranted, because the condition of the data is set by the original failure and not by our work.
Data recovery questions
Can you recover data from a phone that will not switch on?
Sometimes. It depends on whether the storage and its supporting circuits survived. We assess first and tell you what we find. No recovery outcome can be promised before that assessment, and we say plainly when the chance is low.
How much does it cost?
Recovery work starts from a Rp750,000 guide. The final figure depends on what the assessment finds, and it is confirmed before you approve any chargeable work. The initial diagnostic is free.
My device fell in the sea. Is it too late?
Not necessarily, but seawater is the most time-sensitive case we see. Keep it powered off and bring it in rather than testing it. Corrosion continues while the device sits, and it accelerates under power.
Do you need my passcode?
Apple devices encrypt their storage, so reaching the hardware is not the same as reaching the files. What is needed is discussed when we receive the device. Never send a passcode or Apple Account password over chat.
Will you also repair the device?
That is a separate decision and we will ask which goal comes first. Some devices are recovered and repaired, some are recovered without ever returning to daily use, and for some the repair is not economical even when the data is reachable.
Are you an Apple Authorized Service Provider?
No. Fixmara is an independent repair and retail store in Canggu, trading here since 2017. We are not affiliated with Apple and do not carry out work under Apple warranty.
