What to do immediately
Turn the device off if it is safe to do so. Disconnect chargers and accessories. Do not keep testing the power button, and do not add heat.
- Keep the device powered off
- Do not charge it
- Remove the case and external accessories
- Bring the charger if a laptop was affected
- Tell us what liquid was involved
- Tell us when the exposure happened
Rice does not remove liquid trapped inside a device and can delay proper internal inspection.
Opened, cleaned and assessed
We inspect liquid indicators, connectors and exposed board areas. Contamination is cleaned where appropriate, then affected circuits and connected parts are tested in a controlled sequence.
We do not promise a successful result before the extent of corrosion and electrical damage is known.
Clean water, seawater and sweet drinks behave differently
The liquid involved changes what we look for and how quickly a device should be opened. Tell us which one reached the device, even if you are not certain.
- Fresh water carries dissolved minerals that conduct electricity and leave deposits once the water evaporates.
- Seawater and pool water are strongly conductive and begin corroding contacts and board surfaces quickly. These are the most time-sensitive cases we see in Canggu.
- Coffee, juice, soft drinks and alcohol leave sticky residue that holds moisture against components long after the surface feels dry.
A device that was rinsed in fresh water and one that went into the sea are not the same repair, even when the symptoms look identical on the day it happened.
What fails first
Liquid rarely reaches every part equally. It enters through openings and travels along the paths inside the housing, so the damage is usually uneven. These are the areas we inspect first on the devices we handle most.
- Charging port and its flex connector
- Display and battery connectors on the board
- Speakers, microphones and the earpiece mesh
- Battery cells and their protection circuit
- Keyboard, trackpad and speaker area on a MacBook
- Exposed board areas and shielding under the logic board
A device can keep working for days or weeks after exposure and then fail, because corrosion continues under power. Working today is not evidence that no damage occurred.
A repair, a recovery or a clear stop
Some devices need only cleaning and a replaceable part. Others require board-level work, data recovery assessment or are not economical to repair. We explain the evidence and options before continuing.
If the data matters more than the device
Restoring a device to daily use and recovering the data inside it are two different goals, and they can lead to different decisions during the work. If your photos, messages or documents are the priority, say so before anything begins.
Before you bring it in, do not erase the device, do not run a restore, and do not keep powering it on to check whether it still works. Each attempt draws current through corroded circuits and can reduce what is still recoverable.
See data recovery in Canggu for how that path is assessed and quoted, and component-level repair for the board work behind it. No recovery outcome can be promised before assessment.
How long an assessment takes
The initial diagnostic is free, and we confirm a time estimate once the device is open and the affected areas are visible. Liquid cases are not quoted from the outside.
Some devices are cleaned, tested and returned within the same visit. Others need to be observed after cleaning, because a circuit can pass a first test and fail again once it is under load. Where a part has to be ordered, the waiting time is confirmed separately from the repair itself.
We contact you with findings and a total before any chargeable work starts. Nothing is replaced without your approval.
Diagnosis decides the path
Liquid damage costs depend on the device and the affected parts. The published starting guide covers initial treatment, not every possible replacement component.
Final total confirmed first
Warranty applies only to the specific work listed on the repair invoice. Existing or later liquid-related faults may be excluded. Review the written terms before approval.
Water damage questions
Does putting the device in rice help?
No. Rice does not draw liquid out of a sealed device, and the delay it causes gives corrosion more time to spread. Keep the device powered off and bring it in.
My device still switches on. Do I still need an inspection?
Yes. Corrosion continues under power and often causes failures days or weeks later. An inspection while the device still works gives more options than one after a circuit has already failed.
Does Rp500,000 cover the whole repair?
No. That is a starting guide for initial treatment only. Replacement parts, board-level work and data recovery are quoted separately after diagnosis, and the final total is confirmed before you approve it.
Can you guarantee the device will work again?
No, and we will not claim otherwise before opening it. The extent of corrosion and electrical damage is unknown until the device is inspected. Some devices are cleaned and returned to normal use, some need board-level work, and some are not economical to repair.
Is the warranty the same as for other repairs?
The 30-day written warranty covers the specific work listed on your repair invoice, subject to the warranty terms and exclusions. Existing or later liquid-related faults may be excluded, because liquid damage can affect parts that were not part of the original work. Review the written terms before approval.
